shrink charm instructions

hello looseleaf letters member!
thanks so much for your support in our mail club, we're so excited you decided to get may's edition. since this month's theme is community, i wanted to include an extra one that you can give to a friend.
this activity is very easy and takes under 15 minutes.
you’ll need:
- your shrink charm kit
- a marker, i recommend a fine black sharpie (colored pencils and paint markers work too)
- an oven, toaster oven, or heat gun
- parchment paper
-
(optional) i recommend having something flat and heat-proof (like a mug or bowl with a flat bottom) that you can use to flatten your charm while its still hot
that’s it! let’s get started:
1. write your letter(s)!
some ideas:
- write two letters to yourself
- write letters for family/friends
- you and a friend can write letters to each other
feel free to write or doodle something on the back too!
2. shrink time!
if you’re using an oven or toaster oven, pre-heat it to 350 degrees. place your notes on parchment paper and put them in the oven. when they’ve shrunk and are pretty flat, take them out. if you have a flat object, use it to flatten your charm.
tips:
- don’t heat it for too long or it will distort the charm! mine take under a minute
- i recommend not flattening the charm on top of the parchment paper as it’ll pick up the texture. i flatten it on my stone counter top
3. finish up!
attach the included charm lanyards to your charms by the hole at the top left corner and you’re done!
we hope you enjoyed this month’s activity! we’d love to see what you make. tag us on social media or send a photo in our discord!
